The Center for Healthy Families

We are extremely proud of The Center for Healthy Families Healthy Families Connection program HFC’s ability to engage the diverse population of P/P youth, 69% were African American youth. Thanks to Jack and Jill Foundation grant support we had strong capacity to meet emerging and continuing youth needs to help them overcame barriers and experienced positive outcomes.

Being a recipient of funding from Jack and Jill Foundation enabled our participants to see beyond their current lived experience. The programming and material assistance The Center for Healthy Families provided allowed families to connect, learn and grow. Providing engagement opportunities for participants to create memories with their children, work toward their goals as well as invest in their self-care has been priceless.

The population of pregnant or parenting teens ages 12-24 are often forgotten and we appreciate the investment for the last two years by the Jack and Jill Foundation to improve the lives of pregnant and parenting teens in our community. Often times they are made to feel like as if the are not enough. Our program meets youth where they are and walk beside them toward self-sufficiency.

“As a senior attending Flex High School, 17-year-old Clarita was referred to us by her guidance counselor because she was pregnant and needed support to finish school. Clarita was homeless and needed housing with her baby due in October. Clarita’s Resource Advocate provided case management and linkage to resources and services. We helped her locate safe and affordable housing, connect to the Healthy Eating Community Alliance, and enroll in an evidence-based home visiting service. This wraparound support helped Clarita give birth to a healthy baby and graduate from high school. She maintains regular sessions with staff and continues to work on new goals as Clarita reaches milestones. She enrolled in a phlebotomy class and was accepted into Goodwill’s State-Tested Nurse Aide (STNA) program with the goal of entering Columbus State’s nursing program on completion.
