History of the Jack and Jill of America Foundation

This year Jack and Jill of America Foundation celebrates 55 years of dedicated philanthropy serving and strengthening African American communities, one child at a time. The Foundation, initially formed amid the civil rights era, holds the distinction of being the oldest Black-led philanthropic organization focused on serving Black children and families in the U.S. This anniversary also marks a record-breaking period of charitable giving for the Foundation, having awarded nearly 1 million in grants over the last two years.

The Foundation, born out of the desire to serve and uplift African American families and children, has grown to become a beacon of hope, opportunity, and empowerment. While the Foundation’s scope and operations have transformed and diversified over time, its core principles still are steadfast. As we celebrate our 55th anniversary, we at the Jack and Jill of America Foundation extend our gratitude to our partners, grantees, leadership, and the membership of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., affirming our commitment to continue our mission and legacy of service.
